Welcome, in the name of Jesus Christ, to this house of prayer.
Rector’s Ramblings
On the 10th September we held our Parish Visioning Day – 1 Peter 2. 4-9.
It was a day of …‘all of the above’
The day was led by Jane Myers, from the diocese, and we reflected back on the changes to the church over history, how old PCC minutes would have had conversations about change, and how people in the future will look back at our PCC minutes and make comments about the changes we have made. And Daphne told us all about when the screen was painted in the 70’s. We set too with post it notes – yellow for what we have and blue for what we haven’t got, and we noticed so many things! We moved around the building, held stones, looking at the shape and purpose and how we can build together. Then we had clay, which we moulded and shaped. Stone and clay all come from the earth, solid and changeable, how are we changed, what does change mean to us and what are the benefits? So many possibilities, so many questions. The afternoon was spent thinking about what needed to be done to initiate change. Firstly who do we need to influence, what do they currently think about us, what do we want them to think and how will we influence them? Big questions making us drill down to what we are actually going to do now?
The list seemed endless, yet we were all positive and excited with a hint of ‘daunting’ as we begin this process of making these stones to be living for Christ and Community. So don’t watch this space, be part of it, help us investigate, influence, consult and research. In this time of harvest, a season of thanksgiving and praise, when the season changes, please pray again about your gifts, your time and your money and how you can help Proclaim Christ in Clewer.

The next one is on 15th October at 10am. Please join us even if you only have an hour to spare.
Children’s Church – helpers required please.
This service is a wonderful service for children and families, and proving to be very popular. We need your help to set up, make refreshments, clear away and most importantly, to welcome families. This is all part of Living and Loving at St Andrews.
Bible Challenge continues on Wednesday evenings in church.
Harvest Supper and Quiz Night at St Agnes 1st October 7.30pm. We’d like to run a raffle for this event, if you have anything suitable please drop it off at the Rectory by the Saturday morning, Thank you.
Building update – the Lodge guttering has been fixed and we are still awaiting the removal of the Walker organ. We apologise if it feels abit cold in church so wear an extra jumper and we’ll continue to try to sort things out as quickly as possible!
Looking ahead – St Andrews patronal festival falls on a Wednesday this year, 30th November. We will be holding our festival Eucharist, with bells and incense, at 7.30pm and our visiting preacher will be Fr Paul, Warden of Ascot Priory. With refreshments afterwards. We look forward you all at this great celebration.
Bible Challenge
Wednesday Evenings 7.30pm at church
Inclusive Church – as part of our visioning we need to reflect on how inclusive we are in our worship and practically, to ensure that the changes meet everyone’s needs. To help us we will be using some resources produced by the Inclusive Church group. These books are available as a parish resource and you are encouraged to borrow and read and help us learn how to be an inclusive and welcoming church. The topics are: mental health, ethnicity, poverty, sexuality, gender and disability.
Advent study – this year we will be reading Advent in Narnia. Please see the notice at the back of church if you would like to sign up for a book and/or join us. We will be meeting on Wednesday evenings, although the first meeting will be Thursday 1st Dec, due to the patronal festival on 30th.
Harvest of Gifts
Gifts of Food
This year we have been given a list of food required by the Homeless Project. Any fresh produce from gardens and allotments will be sold after the service and the money given to USPG, supporting the refugee crisis.
Gifts of Money to will go towards helping USPG support refugees.
Your donations to the Rapid Response Fund will help the diocese of Europe to provide emergency medical support, food, shelter and pastoral care for refugees.

We ask you to pray for St Andrews church family and the projects which we will be undertaking.
Consider and Act – are you called to lead an aspect of the fundraising, be part of a team to help maintain the building and churchyard? Would you like to plan worship, mission and outreach? Are you willing to visit someone, or get involved with our schools and nursing home work?
Pray some more! For helpers and volunteers, gifts and donations.
