![]() WELCOME We are now in the season of remembering. I wonder if you have noticed the increasing amount of community poppy making projects that is occurring? There are some amazing projects around and the impact of vast numbers of crafted poppies is hard to miss! Thousands of handmade poppies attached to nets, all made by volunteers who are Remembering, who are part of something that Remembers and seen by those who are Remembering. The message that this collective form of Remembrance is showing that it is even more important today than it ever has been, the story of war must continue to be told. Why? Because more than ever we need to work for peace. War has many faces, we are fighting everywhere, every day, physically and emotionally. Between countries, between communities, between neighbours, within families, with climate change, with technology, wars for financial gain and political power. People are at war in their hearts. If we are to truly honour the poppy, we must take a serious look at the war in our hearts now and bring peace. Jesus teaches the secret of happiness to his followers because God’s dream is of a world where all the children of God are loved and cared for, and no one is left out. Blessed are you who work for peace, for you are the voice of God, blessed are you who comfort the sad, for you are the arms of God. Love your enemies and pray for them, for they too are children of God (Archbishop Tutu’s version). As you wear your poppy- ask God to see it as a prayer for peace. Lest we forget! We will remember them. Blessings for your week Revd Rosie SUNDAY SERVICES 8TH NOVEMBER REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 3RD SUNDAY BEFORE ADVENT 10:45am Remembrance Service – Clewer War Memorial (Pirate Park) 5:00pm Eucharist COLLECT Almighty Father, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of all: govern the hearts and minds of those in authority, and bring the families of the nations, divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin, to be subject to his just and gentle rule; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen READINGS Genesis 9.8-17 8Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9‘As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, 10and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark. 11I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.’ 12God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.’ 17God said to Noah, ‘This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.’ Romans 8.18-25 18I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. 19For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; 20for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labour pains until now; 23and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? 25But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. John 16.31-end 31Jesus answered them, ‘Do you now believe? 32The hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each one to his home, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me. 33I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!’ Sermon Recording from Sunday 1st November 2026 (Rev Rosie) NOTICES PLEASE PRAY FOR The Suffering: John, Vicci, Christine, Bill, Matt, Stef, and Joanna.
