Proclaiming Christ in Clewer
Pews News: August 2017
Welcome, in the name of Jesus Christ, to this house of prayer.
Ramblings
Well August is here again – a time for holidays and relaxation. As Rosie is having some well-deserved time off the ramblings this month will be more rambling than usual!
It is not just Rosie who is off – all the schools have broken up and the children are at home. This makes August not just a time for holidays but also a time to reflect on the past year and look forward to what the future may bring.
August begins with a hopefully appropriate festival – the Transfiguration of Jesus where Elijah and Moses appear with Jesus and he ‘shines like the sun’ – we can only hope that the British weather brings us some sunshine. The Transfiguration is the point at which the disciples see that Jesus is the bridge between heaven and earth, much as this month is a bridging month between old and new school years.
We are exhorted to listen to Jesus and it is noteworthy that two important Old Testament prophets appear with Jesus but after God speaks it is Jesus who remains. God is exalting Jesus above all other powers and creations and giving him a special honour and glory.
If you are lucky enough to have some time off in August, why not use some of it to reflect on where you are as we head towards September when everything starts back to normal.
God Bless. Church Warden Rob & Parish Administrator Sharon
