    Come along to our harvest festival and buy some fresh fruit and veg kindly donated by the allotmenteers, from Clewer Fuel Allotments. And why not stay for lunch, vegetable soup, bread and cheeses. Raising funds for the Foodshare and Christian Aid. WELCOME Everybody has been very generous this week, as always the church is full of good things to look at and good things to share. Our church school, Clewer Green, have been in and told us all about Fairtrade and how farmers need fair pay for their goods so that children can go to school etc. The prayers we have this morning are written by the children. It was lovely to hear them talk about their gifts and how thanking God for the harvest is an important reminder to each of us, to look after our world and each other, and, to share what we have. All the fresh produce in the porch has been generously donated by the Clewer Fuel Alottmenteers, dug up and picked just yesterday (Saturday) to donate for us to by and distribute. Our sharing soup lunch today is made from some of the allottment veg. Thankfulness and generosity are key values, fruits of the Spirit, for Christians. Everything we wear and eat, is produced by someone somewhere. At harvest time we say thank you to God, and we sing songs and say prayers that remember that God has created a wonderful world of beauty and variety, that, if we take care of it well, can sustain the gift of life. The ‘thank you’ is so important- it tells the person that did that job or gave that gift that they did something worthwhile. And it tells them that they are important in the world. In the letter to the Philippians, St Paul reminds us to be thankful that Jesus is close to us, that he knows us, loves us and listens to our requests. So, we don’t need to worry, it can be hard not to worry, but we are encouraged to turn to God and ask for the things we need, rather than getting anxious. God provides in ways that can involve many people, all of whom have a part to play, and we too are part of the way that God provides for others. In our prayers, thoughts and actions today, we say thank you for everything and every person who contributes to our lives, and above all we thank God for his goodness and provision. All Amen READINGS Deuteronomy 26.1-11 When you have come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, and you possess it, and settle in it, you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket and go to the place that the Lordyour God will choose as a dwelling for his name. You shall go to the priest who is in office at that time, and say to him, ‘Today I declare to the Lordyour God that I have come into the land that the Lord swore to our ancestors to give us.’ When the priest takes the basket from your hand and sets it down before the altar of the Lordyour God, you shall make this response before the Lordy our God: ‘A wandering Aramean was my ancestor; he went down into Egypt and lived there as an alien, few in number, and there he became a great nation, mighty and populous. Help us to think of the farmers at harvest, for the people that grow the sugar for us to eat. Help us to remember to use Fairtrade products. Help us to make tinned food Fairtrade. Thank you for the tea and coffee that is grown all over the world. Thank you to the farmers for picking their tea and coffee plants. Help us to make sure more people buy Fairtrade so that farmers can receive a fair price for their crops. Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer. Dear Lord, thank you for all the things that we have even though we might have more than others. Help us to give to the poor. Thank you for the hard work and time spent by the farmers and all who produce and provide our food. One of our biggest expenses at Windsor Foodshare is buying in fruit and vegetables weekly . We try and make sure that everyone that visits gets a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. It is so important for peoples health, especially the children. With the cost of living going up farmers and suppliers costs are also going up which inturn passes on to us. Stopping buying fruit and veg is not something we even want to contemplate. We are one of very few foodbanks that are able to supply fruit and vegetables. This week we fed 126 people . With the cost of our fruit and veg from our supplier we spent £3.52 per person this week, so £14.08 per month per person. We are hoping to find donors who would like to sponsor a person or even a family each month. If you or a company you work for would like to get involved we would be very grateful for your help. We have several ways to donate money either by a bank transfer or just giving . Both of these options can be set up for recurring payments. Please put your reference as fruit and veg.
