Living, Loving, Learning Lent Together
Ash Wednesday 5th March
This marks the beginning of Lent. A Eucharist Service with Ashes will be held at 8pm at St Andrews for both parishes of St Andrews and All Saints. Revd Rosie will preside and Revd Louise will preach.
Lent
This year we will be joining with All Saints for Lent, entitles “Living Lent”. On Wednesdays we will be ‘Loving, Living and Learning’ together. This will include prayers at our respective churches, a service of Holy Communion, coffee time together and then a joint learning time in the evening. Alternating venues.
We need your help! One of the things we would like to do is deliver a Lent Prayer Card to every house in the parish! Each week we will focus our prayers on particular roads. We will need Posties please each Sunday to deliver to specific roads. Please let Revd Rosie or the church wardens know if you can help, either with delivery or with the coffee mornings on Wednesdays.
Lent prayer cards and Easter service notices will be available next week.
Key Amnesty
Do you have any church keys?
If so we would like you to bring them to the APCCM on the 6th April after the 10am service. We would like to collect and count ALL our church keys, whether used or not, then reissue appropriately. Please bring them in a clear plastic bag labelled with your name and give then to Jane Cockman, church warden.Thank you for your help.
Gifts and Talents
Managing and maintaining a place of worship takes time and effort, people and prayer. We all have different gifts and talents and we would like to find out more about these in each other and how we might share the many roles and responsibilities of our parish. During Lent, please could you pray about your discipleship and how best you might serve God at St Andrews. For example: Sidesperson, helping with Refreshments, being available to help open the church to the public, admin support for Revd Rosie, gardening, cleaning, baptism team, ministry team including helping to plan family services, musicians and singers, readers and chalice assistants. The more there are of us the more we can spread the load.
Apart from the above, we have a Vacancy: Sacristan
A sacristan is an officer charged with care of the sacristy ( part of the vestry) and appointed by the PCC. Duties include the care of the sacred vessels, vestments, lights/candles, etc. and assisting the priest with setting up the Sanctuary for the different services, seasons and festivals. If you think this might be something that would interest you as part of a serving disciple of Christ, please contact Revd Rosie.
