Pews News: June 2015 Trinity

Welcome, in the name of Jesus Christ, to this house of prayer.

Rector’s Ramblings

May ended with Trinity Sunday, wasn’t it a long month! Trinity Sunday reminds us of the mystery that is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. No matter how much we try to explain it, we can’t and some things are worth just accepting! When you join three things together, there is always a gap in the middle, be it a triangle or a circle. The Trinity is God’s circle of love, never ending, no beginning but continuous and we are invited to join in and enter that circle. There is a space there for us to be held as we are, whatever our circumstances and whoever we are. Unconditional love given freely….if only we accept the invitation.

Getting to know new people, sharing lives and stories is how we build relationships. God wants to build a relationship with us, God is there to share life, the joys and the sorrows. Have you ever had an invitation that you are not sure about, try to avoid accepting, feel embarrassed or feel socially inept?  We are not all extroverts! When we finally accept the offer we then find that we actually enjoy ourselves? Happened to you?

Faith is about accepting the invitation from God, it is the greatest invite we can ever receive. An invitation to be part something, belong to something bigger, something more fantastic, awesome and sometimes hard to explain. An invitation to live, love and learn. God the Father creator of all things – how awesome is that! God the Son who shared our human life with all its joys and sorrows –how awesome is that! God the Holy Spirit – giving us courage and peace to face whatever life brings – how awesome is that!

We now have prayer cards at church for your own use and to give out. The prayers are in the form of a Trinity Prayer. They are there to help you reflect on your relationship with God the Father – the wider world, God the Son – our local community, God the Holy Spirit – our growing in faith.

There is much to do in this season of Ordinary Time, it is a season to reflect, review, refresh and grow. Please have a look at the notices and accept an invitation to join us grow together as a family of God here in Clewer, there is something for everyone!

Enjoy this season!

This wonderful service for children and families and is proving to be very popular.  We need your help in June especially to welcome Fathers and provide tea!  Setting up, making refreshments, clearing away. All part of Living and Loving at St Andrews.  If you have not been before then why not come along and experience this style of worship, we do not have age limits, your help and support would be very much appreciated.

Choir Practice Tuesday Evenings 6pm at Church

Bible Challenge Wednesday Evenings 7.30pm at church

A church that is not reading the bible together will not grow.

Come and join us in our bible challenge, reading from the beginning to the end!

It will be interesting, fun, you may even learn something!  All welcome, we can even provide the bibles and if you can’t read well, you can enjoy listening. If you miss a week don’t worry, check the website to see where we have got up to and catch up.

Opportunities to help

We are now entering wedding season and soon all the end of term school services.

If you can help out by welcoming, setting up and offer general support, please let the Church Wardens know – Revd Rosie can’t do it all by herself!

Church Calendar

It would be good if we can have a church calendar to sell at this year’s Festival Fair.

The aim is to have a topic, spend August searching out or taking photos, September display of pictures and voting on which ones for which month, October printing, November selling. So start thinking about it now!

Fundraising

Wanted – someone to head up the fundraising group for St Andrews.

A new group needs to be formed to get going with the ideas from the board.

If you would like to be part of this inspiring and active group, known as the M&M group (meetings and money/ social and fundraising!), then come along to the Rectory on Monday 15th June at 7.30 – we have to start somewhere!

 Is sewing your thing?

Are you handy with a needle and thread or sewing machine?

St Andrews Sewing Bee needs you!

We are looking to make some new altar frontals and pelmets. If you would like to be involved, have design ideas, can make something new out of something old, then why not get involved, many hands make light work. First meeting will be Thursday 25th June 10am at church.

Don’t forget church cleaning on Friday afternoons at 2pm
