Proclaiming Christ in Clewer
Pews News: March 2015 LENT
Welcome, in the name of Jesus Christ, to this house of prayer.
Lent is a time for prayer and reflection. It is a time when we take stock of our relationship with God, our neighbours and the world around us. There are so many distractions that keep us from God, and time seems to run away with us and our good intentions. If you find it hard to access a quiet space at home, why not come into church and spend time at the prayer stations? These Stations are themed and give you the opportunity to reflect on aspects of scripture and situations. The Stations of the Cross plaques (14) on the church walls also have prayers and reflections for you to dwell on. The church is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Welcome to the Lord’s House, it is here for you so that you may grow in discipleship, faith and love.
“Longing for light, we wait in darkness, longing for truth we turn to you”
Every blessing

Rector
Lent 2015
This Lent our study will be focussing on the Eucharist, as part of the Pilgrim Course. Please join us for our Lent Study throughout Lent, particularly if you are considering Confirmation or would like to delve deeper into your Christian journey. Please take a detailed flyer home and give one to a friend or neighbour who may be interested.
Our Holy Week reflections will be based on the same theme.
Wednesday mornings in Lent sees the return of the Coffee Corner, the church will be open for coffee and cake, time to read the papers and to discuss life or just meet and chat. Open 9-12. Offers to serve, make cakes etc will be gratefully received, please let Revd Rosie know.
Lent prayer cards and the Easter services flyers will be ready soon, so volunteers to distribute will be needed, thanking you in advance.

Stewardship/Giving
Please pray about your monetary giving to St Andrews, this is an important aspect of discipleship. It costs on average £4300 per month to run the church, this includes our Parish Share and utilities etc.
Our current income per month is on average £2600. We would like to hold a ‘Tithing’ week during the week of our APCM. Sunday the 19 April will start us off with a Gift Service, followed by a Cheese and Wine and Music evening and APCM on Wednesday 22nd at 7.30pm. It would be good to have the church open all week, to welcome visitors and to be able to share what is happening at St Andrews.
There are many ways of monetary giving, including legacies – please ask our church wardens. If you would like to be a Welcomer during this week please let the church wardens know. We will finish the week with a Taize Service on 24 April, Friday evening at 8pm.
PCC News: we now have a new parish secretary, Sharon Robinson. Welcome Sharon! We say goodbye to Maureen Hossack as a PCC member. Maureen has now stood down after nearly 8 years and we thank her for her contribution to the PCC and the day to day tasks of St Andrews. I’m sure we will still see her ringing bells sweeping the odd floor! Thank you Maureen.
Children’s Church: This wonderful service for children and families is proving to be very popular! We need your help! Setting up, making refreshments, clearing away and most importantly -welcoming families, all part of Living and Loving at St Andrews. If you have not been before then why not come along and experience this style of worship, we do not have age limits, your help and support would be very much appreciated.
Women’s World Day of Prayer 6th March. This years’ service will be held at the Methodist Church Old Windsor at 2pm or the URC in William St at 7.30pm. The theme this year has been put together by the women of The Bahamas.
Your RECTOR wishes to thank everyone for this momentous celebration! Thank you for all the planning and preparations that have gone into the service on the 1st March. Now …we can really get on with the Lord’s business!
