![]() WELCOME Trinity Sunday 31st May 2026 Today is Trinity Sunday, love it or hate it, it’s that time of year when all preachers go “Oh no, the Trinity, how to explain the Trinity?” and we go through all these heresies about Jaffa Cakes, Marmalade, The Sun, Shamrock all kinds of things that we try to use as analogies to explain the Trinity. But Trinity Sunday doesn’t have to be fully understood, we’re never going to understand it, but what we do know is that it is about love and relationship. We are invited into this dance, this love, to experience it and to live from it as God’s disciples of love in the world. Sometimes it feels like life is two steps forward and three steps back but never fear love picks us up, dusts us down and sets us back on our journey of loving disciples. Our gospel reading today comes at the end of the Gospel of Matthew, after the resurrection. It’s at that point where Jesus is with all eleven disciples in one place and he’s giving them what’s called the Great Commission. Jesus is telling them to “go out to all nations baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you and remember, I am with you always to the end of the age.” We do have doubts in our faith. The disciples had doubts, they had fears, they had misunderstandings and now Jesus was telling them that this is what he wanted them to do and it’s the same for us. So, we begin our season of Trinity all those celebrations and feasts, the 50 days of Easter are over. Pentecost has been and now we have to get on with the everyday living as disciples in the world. The big question is, are you willing to accept the relentless invitation of the Trinity that reaches out into your lives, that is written there in the creeds. It is there to share God’s love, believing in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Blessings for your week. Revd Rosie SUNDAY SERVICES 31ST MAY PENTECOST 10:30am Eucharist 3:00pm Worship Explorers (Childrens Church) COLLECT Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen READINGS Isaiah 40.12-17, 27-end Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed he mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? 13 Who has directed the spirit of the Lord, or as his counsellor has instructed him? 14 Whom did he consult for his enlightenment, and who taught him the path of justice? Who taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? 15 Even the nations are like a rop from a bucket, and are accounted as dust on the scales; see, he takes up the isles like fine dust.16 Lebanon would not provide fuel enough, nor are its animals enough for a burnt-offering. 17 All the nations are as nothing before him; they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness. 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, ‘My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God’? 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. 30 Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; 31 but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. 2 Corinthians 13.11-end Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 12Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. 13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. Matthew 28.16-end Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ Listen to Revd Rosie’s Sermon for last Sunday NOTICES PLEASE PRAY FOR The Suffering: Jennifer, John B, Matt, Stef, and Joanna.
